I like this book and a lot of my kids enjoy it. Notably, they almost always do the story to make Danny have the best day. My only concern is that Danny and his family don't look or live much like my students. It is a very traditional, white family (mom, dad, two children) where dad wears a suit and goes to work and mom stays home to take care of the children and make special memories. I don't think I have a single child I work with who live in a home like this and I often avoid using the book because it is so far from what my kids experience that it doesn't seem as helpful. I would absolutely buy another version of this book that is a bit more realistic. Everything doesn't have to be realistic, but even having both parents work or having some more culturally relevant touchpoints would help.
