Hugo is a young playful Chimpanzee who loves living and playing with other chimps in the forest. All is wonderful until one day some traumatic events happen that would change his life. At first, he fears that his home is being destroyed by mysterious looking creatures. Then, his momma is tragically killed and he is captured. Hugo is terrified and not sure what will happen to him next. He is finally rescued. But Hugo is still noticeably affected by what he has experienced. Then he meets a special person who lovingly helps him learn to begin trusting again.
Children who have experienced trauma will especially relate to how Hugo felt in these situations. They will learn how trusting again is a process that involves healing and hope. Included are recommendations for educators and parents along with a CD containing activities that promote discussions with children.
