I used this in play therapy with a 5 year old client of mine who is currently dealing with her parents’ divorce. Since the parents were a same sex couple, I bought two of these in order to have two mommies. The magnetic house was very useful in engaging the child.. However, the idea of recreating the make-up of her family did not work so well since both of the mother figures looked exactly the same. This magnetic house is thin (fits into your work bag) and can be carried anywhere. I would have liked the opportunity to buy different looking family figures (different races, same race different looks etc). It would make this toy much more useful in play therapy with a variety of clients.

Great for play therapy! This is a wonderful way to get a feel for a child's home life. Questions such as "What does your family do at home? or, What would you like to have happen in your home" can be answered using the magnetic board. Great for younger students or students with limited verbal skills.

I like the magnetic doll house. It will be especially useful when doing tele health sessions with kids. I haven’t used it yet but think it will be very useful!
